William D Cohan, Journalist, Former Investment Banker, in Amman

Amman - William Cohan, a former Wall Street investment banker and bestselling author, will visit Jordan from Jan. 23-26 to discuss the significance of the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the implications of the global financial crisis on investment.   Cohan is the bestselling author of House of Cards:  A Tale of Hubris and Wretched Excess on Wall Street and of The Last Tycoons: The Secret History of Lazard Frères & Co., the winner of the 2007 FT/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award.  His new book, Money and Power: How Goldman Sachs Came to Rule the World, was published April 12. It is also a New York Times bestseller.  He is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, a contributor to Fortune, and writes a weekly opinion column for BloombergView.  He previously wrote a bi-weekly opinion column for The New York Times.

During his visit, Cohan will hold seminars, lectures and panel discussions for Jordanian university students, young entrepreneurs, members of civil society, members of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and youth activists in Amman, Zarqa and Irbid.

His lectures will address the challenges and future outlook of entrepreneurship, finding investment capital, and the links between entrepreneurship, innovation, and access to capital, as well as the significance of the Occupy Wall Street Movement in the United States.

In cooperation with the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, he will participate in a panel discussion on entrepreneurship, investment and economic development at the Royal Scientific Society with entrepreneurs from the science and technology sector, private sector and the business community.
