USTR Delegation Visits Al-Hasan Industrial Estate (QIZ)

IRBID - A senior USG delegation from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Embassy Amman, led by Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Labor Lewis Karesh, visited the Al-Hassan Industrial Estate (QIZ) in Irbid as part of a three-day visit to Jordan to further strengthen labor cooperation and promote two-way trade between the two countries.
This trip is part of the Obama administration’s commitment to engage its Free Trade Agreement (FTA) partners on labor issues. The Office of the USTR regularly reviews and assesses the operation of U.S. trade agreements with Jordan as well as other countries. Among USTR’s shared goals with Jordan is to use such reviews to improve local labor conditions. The U.S. and Jordan established a Labor Subcommittee under the FTA Joint Committee in 2006.
