World Class Guitarist Stanley Jordan Performs Live in Jordan

October 5, 2009

Amman – In celebration of 60 years of Jordanian-American friendship, the Cultural Section of the American Embassy in Amman is presenting world class guitarist Stanley Jordan for a live modern jazz performance at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, October 7, at Al Hussein Cultural Center, Ras Al Ein.  Entrance is free, but seats are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

From the moment he made his debut in 1985 with the Grammy nominated album “Magic Touch,” Stanley Jordan has proven himself a world-class innovator. With his remarkable two-handed "touch" and "tap" technique, he ushered a dazzling and spellbinding new sound into the world of smooth jazz.

During his live concert in Amman, guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan will entertain the audience with music from his new album “State of Nature” that weaves together classical, jazz and rock music.  Beyond his signature touch technique on guitar, Stanley incorporates other revolutionary musical techniques into his new album, such as playing two guitars at once, playing guitar and piano simultaneously, and incorporating sounds of nature that he recorded himself. The performance will feature guest artist Omar al Faqir.

Stanley Jordan will also conduct a workshop to share his musical talent and experience with music students of the College of Fine Arts at Yarmouk University in Irbid.
