AMMAN - During an Iftar hosted by the U.S. Commercial Service for government officials and the local business community on Monday, September 14, at the Four Seasons Hotel, U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Stephen Beecroft underlined Jordan’s importance as a partner for the United States in trade and investment, and in helping to bring economic growth to the region. He noted that business development programs and the bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) constitute an integral part of the U.S. – Jordanian bilateral partnership, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.
In remarks during the Iftar, Ambassador Beecroft noted that “the U.S. Embassy is here to help U.S. and Jordanian businesses utilize the benefits of the Free Trade Agreement, and the Commercial Service has the Embassy’s lead on working with local and American firms.”
The Ambassador also highlighted U.S. Government-funded programs that seek to enhance the business and investment climate in Jordan and promote trade between the two countries. He spoke about such agreements as the FTA and the Qualifying Industrial Zones (QIZ), which have helped boost exports and imports between Jordan and the United States over the past ten years. Ambassador Beecroft also expressed U.S. commitment to supporting Jordan’s ascent to a more dynamic marketplace, urging Jordanian importers and exporters to maximize their benefits from the FTA with Jordan.
