September 2, 2009
AMMAN – The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Amman hosted the annual Iftar on September 2 for senior Jordanian colleagues in the media, education and cultural sectors. The Iftar was attended by American Ambassador R. Stephen Beecroft and several members of the Embassy’s staff.
During the Iftar, Ambassador Beecroft welcomed the guests and remarked: “Jordan and the United States share common ground in our concerns about issues affecting the lives of ordinary citizens -- the economy, water, health care, education, human rights, including the rights of women and children. Those issues remain at the forefront of the U.S.-Jordanian bilateral relationship, as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic and development ties.” Ambassador Beecroft concluded his remarks by expressing appreciation for “the friendships and frank insights as we work together to build a more humane world.”
The U.S. Embassy in Amman is marking the 60th anniversary of U.S.-Jordanian diplomatic ties. Like the many cultural and media programs organized throughout this year, this Iftar is a manifestation of the strong relationship that binds the Jordanian and American peoples in various aspects of mutual interests and common goals.
