Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a Consular Officer. Applicants are advised of this requirement at the conclusion of the interview. Most administrative processing is resolved within five months of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. The administrative processing occurs in Washington, DC and can not be expedited or waived. Visa applicants are reminded not to make any non-refundable travel plans until they receive their visas.
Please note: we will not contact you when your administrative processing is complete. All Immigrant Visa applicants must check their own cases by clicking here.
If you see the message "Passport Number not found!", make sure you are entering the full passport number. Most Jordanian and Iraqi passport numbers begin with one letter. Be sure to include this letter.
If your administrative processing is still pending six months after your interview, please contact our office by email at: Amman-IV@state.gov.
