Available Passport Services
In keeping with U.S. Embassies and Consulates around the world, passport applications received and adjudicated at the American Embassy in Amman will be printed by domestic passport facilities in the U.S. This will ensure that each passport incorporates the latest security features. In general, the ACS section has found that we receive most passports within two weeks from the date of application. Unfortunately, we can not expedite passport applications, and it is no longer possible to ammend or extend passports while overseas.
U.S. Embassies and Consulates will continue to issue passports in emergency cases, but such passports will be limited in validity and cannot be extended. Please see the section "Emergency Passports" below. We can also replace lost or stolen passports. Please see the section "Lost or Stolen Passports" below.
The U.S. Embassy can add visa pages to your current passport. Please see the section "Additional Visa Pages" below.

Applying for a Minor's Passport
Any applicant 15 years of age or younger should apply for a first time or renewing passport using application form DS-11. In addition, please bring:
- The applicant's original birth certificate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad, with certified English translation if applicable.
- Two passport photographs of the applicant. Photographs should be 2" by 2" with a white background and full face. Please do not digitally alter the photographs.
- The applicant's most recent passport.
- The minor applicant in person, along with both parents. If one parent is not in Jordan, she or he may submit a notarized letter authorizing the other parent to apply for the minor's passport. This letter must state the child's name, both parents' names, and must be signed and notarized by a U.S. notary or at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. A U.S. Embassy or Consulate will perform this notarial service for free, using Statement of Consent form DS-3053.
If one parent has full legal custody of the minor, that parent may come without the other birth parent, as long as she or he can provide a court order proving custody. If one parent is deceased, please provide the death certificate.
PLEASE NOTE: All documents including the consent form must be submitted in original or certified copy. Documents not in English should be submitted along with a certified translation.
Fees are collected in cash only, either in U.S. dollars or the equivalent in Jordanian dinars. Please allow two weeks from the date of application for the minor's passport to be ready.

Emergency Passports
If you require emergency travel, the Embassy can issue you an emergency passport depending on your case. In general, emergency passports require at least one day to prepare.
An emergency passport has all the same requirements and fees as a regular passport, but has a very limited validity and will need to be replaced with a regular passport upon arrival at your destination. If you feel you require an emergency passport, please bring the appropriate application form and fees to the Embassy and tell the consul of your need. To determine the appropriate application form, please see the requirements for each listed in the above section "Which Passport Application Form Do I Need?" There is no special application form or special fee for an emergency passport; simply follow the passport guidelines listed above.
Additional Visa Pages
The Embassy can add additional visa pages to a current passport. For this service, please complete Application for Additional Visa Pages Form DS-4085 and bring it along with your passport to the Embassy. Your passport with the inserted addtional pages will be ready the next business day. There is no fee for this service.
